I have worked in design and product development for over 25 years, my experience ranging from footwear and accessory design to tableware and textile design. I have designed for firms including Williams-Sonoma, Herend Porcelain, and Donna Karan Collection. Through my experiences there has been a common thread of working with artisans and craftspeople using traditional techniques to create modern products. I was fortunate enough to travel throughout the world with my work, giving me a strong appreciation for handcrafted materials.
My interior design work evolved out of friends asking for advice and then referring me on to their friends. Word of mouth is wonderful. My clients hire me with the confidence that I will approach their project with new ideas, historically correct colors and materials, and partner with them to create an environment that they love to live in.
I enjoy working with companies that produce well made and unique materials. Many of the fabric lines I carry are made by small companies that produce their textiles by hand. I like to offer a range that is unique to Madison and often also to the Midwest.
When working with a home I like to acknowledge the era in which it was built when selecting materials. I recently worked on a turn of the century house which was kept very clean and modern in design. In a nod to when it was built we incorporated hand blocked fabrics, as that time was when mechanized textile printing was new and hand blocked fabrics graduated from everyday to exceptional.
I believe that design should not be exclusive. I enjoy projects of all sizes. If you need advice on a color for just one room or fabrics throughout your house, I am happy to help you.
